S Panel - Con Edison New York
Consolidated Edison Company of New York (ConEdison) asked SSC to design a composite solution to eliminate the risk of potential electrocution as the majority of these covers are walked on everyday. They also wanted to mitigate events in chambers which were as a direct result of gases building up under unvented covers, which could be dangerous to people.
SSC developed a vented composite panel solution that could be installed in series to cover electrical service pits.
These panels were designed to only require support at each end, but are still capable of supporting a load in excess of 380kN. The size of these panels is 1378 X 608 mm
The Benefits of a Structural Science composite cover over traditional covers.
